The driving test lasts for about forty minutes and tests your ability to drive in varying situations and road conditions. On the day of your test I will meet you about an hour before your test, and use that time to run through all the procedures that you will have learnt on your lessons. From 4 October 2010, learner drivers will be tested on independent driving as part of the practical driving test. To help candidates understand where they’re going, the examiner may show them a diagram.
It doesn't matter if candidates don't remember every direction, or if they go the wrong way - that can happen to the most experienced drivers.
During their test, candidates will have to drive for about 10 minutes, either following a series of directions, following traffic signs, or a combination of both.
Also on your test you will be asked to demonstrate your ability to carry out one of the following manoeuvres:
1. Turn in the road (three point turn)
2. Reverse round a corner
3. Reverse park exercise – Either behind a parked car (parallel park) or
into a parking bay
You may also be asked to carry out an emergency stop.
After the test, and hopefully the completion of a pass certificate, you will be driven to your chosen destination within reason.
I charge a two-hour fee for the test as it takes about two hours from pick up to drop off.
